With Detective Grimoire – The Mermaid Mask Alhambra Records releases the soundtrack to the fourth installment of the popular adventure series. After a lengthy development period the latest game in the series in which Detective Grimoire and his partner Sally once again investigate a mysterious death was released in 2026: Magnus Mortuga, the captain of a submarine, died under unexplained circumstances. For the music composer Raphael B. Meyer once again enlisted the Budapest Art Orchestra, this time augmented by the Budapest Art Choir. The score blends Elfmanesque timbres with Meyer’s distinctive musical style, particularly due to his characteristic use of flutes. Pre-released audio samples offer a first impression of the soundtrack:

Alhambra Records has been supporting the series for several years. The first installment Detective Grimoire was released in 2007 as a Flash game and featured a more traditional prototype score. Beginning with the next installment, Raphael B. Meyer—known among other things for his music for the SRF series The Undertaker—took over the musical direction of the series. Detective Grimoire: Secret of the Swamp (2014) was a first score which featured a small ensemble . Excerpts from this score were later released on the 3-CD set Raphael Benjamin Meyer – Music for Games, Film, Television and Concert Hall (A 9058) (CD 3, Tracks 1–6) along with music from the SFB game Haunt the House – Terrortown (2013, Tracks 7–14). The strong response to the music led to a significantly larger recording budget being available for subsequent productions.
In 2019 Tangle Tower was released which marked the next musical step in the series. The soundtrack (CD: Alhambra Records, A 9052) was recorded with the Budapest Art Orchestra under the direction of Peter Pejtsik. Mit Detective Grimoire – The Mermaid Mask veröffentlicht Alhambra Records den Soundtrack zum mittlerweile vierten Teil der beliebten Adventure-Reihe. Nach längerer Vorbereitungszeit erschien 2026 das neueste Spiel der Serie, in dem Detective Grimoire und seine Partnerin Sally erneut einem rätselhaften Todesfall nachgehen: Magnus Mortuga, der Kapitän eines U-Bootes, kam unter ungeklärten Umständen ums Leben. Für die Musik konnte Komponist Raphael B. Meyer erneut auf das Budapest Art Orchestra zurückgreifen, diesmal erweitert um den Budapest Art Choir. Alhambra Records begleitet die Reihe bereits seit mehreren Jahren. Der erste Teil, Detective Grimoire, erschien 2007 als Flash-Spiel und verfügte noch über einen eher klassischen Prototypen-Score. Ab der nächsten Folge übernahm Raphael B. Meyer (unter anderem bekannt durch seine Musik zur SRF-Serie Der Bestatter) die musikalische Gestaltung der Reihe. Mit Detective Grimoire: Secret of the Swamp (2014) entstand ein erster Score in kleiner Besetzung. Auszüge daraus wurden später auf dem 3-CD-Set Raphael Benjamin Meyer – Musik für Games, Film, Fernsehen und Konzertsaal (A 9058) veröffentlicht (CD 3, Track 1–6), gemeinsam mit Musik aus dem SFB-Game Haunt the House – Terrortown (2013, Track 7–14). Die starke Resonanz auf die Musik führte dazu, dass für die folgenden Produktionen ein deutlich größeres Aufnahmebudget zur Verfügung stand. 2019 erschien mit Tangle Tower (CD: Alhambra Records, A 9052) der musikalisch nächste Schritt der Reihe. Der Soundtrack wurde mit dem Budapest Art Orchestra unter der Leitung von Peter Pejtsik eingespielt.
